Transport, Duration & Catering
The dancers, DJ and swing band mostly travel by car, please provide Taxi-Brousse with some indications regarding the parking places if provided.
Catering has been agreed with the organizer, make sure to provide beverages to everyone, enough fresh water is just fine.
The duration, number of sets, timing has been agreed with the organizer.
Taxi-Brousse loves the input of the audience and follow their wishes whenever possible. Pictures and videos are encouraged! Please ask everyone to tag the band as #TaxBrousseSwing
For the Dancers in your Audience
The swing dancers from your audience, they need a dance floor large enough to swivel, pass through, jump, and many other fun steps they like. The right size for the dancing floor depends on the expected crowd.
For the Virtuoso Dancers
A floor that glides somewhat is essential. A wooden floor is mostly adequate but regular flat floors (and a little sand) will mostly do the trick too. Call us and we will ask our dancers to check out your venue.
The dancers need a place to store their clothes and shoes, out of sight & secure. They also need a place to get dressed and apply make-up for those exquisite vintage looks.
For the Swing DJ
Small Venues
In small venues, the DJ needs amplification (or we provide it) and will output music as 2 x XLR or 2 x CINCH as you wish. Taxi-Brousse can provide amplification if you wish so.
The DJ need a place to store cases, out of sight & secure.
Larger Venues or Open Air
In larger venues, the DJ requires some monitoring and will output 2 x XLRs from his desk.
The DJ need a place to store cases, out of sight & secure.
For the Swing Band
Rider
Taxi-Brousse could use…
A small chair or cruck is required for our guitar player who plays seated.
The other msicians play standing.Taxi-Brousse musicians need a place to store the music cases and regular clothes, out of sight & secure
Music stands with good looks are welcome but do not need to be provided
Enough light is required so the band can read their parts
Stage plot
Taxi-Brousse is adaptable, they play in large and love small venues.
The 3 saxophones play in line, mostly in front of the rhythm section.
Please foresee some, even basic, lightning on stage as this greatly enhances the band presence and the event in general.
Front Of House
Small Venues
Taxi-Brousse plays mostly in small venues, using the available acoustics. If the place has strong reverberations (large windows, tiles, …), please provide a backdrop behind the band and some carpets under the band so the sound is not projecting too hard.
We will evaluate with you wether we bring our own amplification or not.
Stage dimensions for small venues
Taxi-Brousse would like something like 7m x 6m = 42 m²
Taxi-Brousse needs at least 6m x 4m = 24m²
Call us if your configuration is special.
For Larger Venues
You need to provide amplification for very large venues or in open spaces.
Our input list is
one microphone for each of the 3 saxophones
standard miking for the drums
XLR DI line outputs for the guitar
XLR DI line outputs for the acoustic bass
XLR line output for the singer/announcements
! PA system or in ear monitoring is required in this case!
Your sound engineer needs to call the band before the event so they can share what they bring along (microphone, DI, …).
